Peterborough will be without defender Ryan Bennett who picked up a knee injury during the 5-2 win against Oldham last weekend.
Winger Arron Davies (hamstring) is out but fellow midfielder Chris Whelpdale is available after injury.
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon: "It's a very enticing game and I suppose the better we do the bigger the games will be.
"If we do well, win games and gradually edge ourselves up the league we should find that most of these games will become big games.
"We've started quite nicely, we're full of confidence which we should be, and we've improved from last year."
Peterborough United boss Gary Johnson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "There's three or four of their players I worked with at Bristol City, I know them individually very well but obviously I know the team very well and the manager.
"It's a club I know well, they do very well for their status - they've done well to get to the first division and compete.
"I believe their record against clubs at the top end of the division is very good at St James' Park, so we have to be mindful of that."
