"We worked really hard all day on Friday to bring Lee to the club, talking to his agent and talking to Lee four or five times.
"We finally cracked a deal on a match-by-match basis even though he was also rather keen on going abroad."
Sharpe began his career with local rivals Torquay United, before signing for giants Manchester United at the age of 17. While at United he won 8 England caps and two Permiership titles. Since then he's had spells at Leeds, Bradford, Sampdoria and Portsmouth.
