Exeter will again be without captain Matt Taylor who is still struggling with a back injury.
Striker Marcus Stewart (back) is also out but fellow strikers Jamie Cureton and Richard Logan are available.
Hartlepool United caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth told BBC Tees: "Last year there were similarities in league position [with Exeter] and the task they had in the last few games of last season to survive and they've done remarkably well.
"They've a bright young manager [Paul Tisdale], who's been lauded by the media down there, and they play a type of football that you don't see very often - three central defenders and wing backs - there's not too many teams playing like that but they do it very well.
"It will be a stiff test for us, we know that very well, but it's also a game that we have to look at that we will win and shall win."
Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon: "Although it's been enjoyable to train this week with two wins behind us, it's also been a challenge for me to focus the players on doing the right things.
"There's no reason why we shouldn't go up to Hartlepool on Saturday and repeat the form of last week.
"I expect to go up there on Saturday and be just as competitive as we were last season - come as close to a win as we did last time, and maybe go that bit better and win it."
