Carlisle took an early lead through Craig Curran and after Ryan Harley's brace for the Grecians, Ivory Coast striker Francois Zoko hit back for the home side on the stroke of half-time.
Tisdale said: "I will take a point, especially after the last 20 minutes when the game opened up and we looked very tired.
"It was an open game on a fantastic surface and both sides played lots of good football.
"I felt it would be the catalyst for scoring and I urged them to be more disciplined."
On Harley's two goals Tisdale added: "They were two extremely good goals, but it was a good team effort on the back of two previous away wins. I'm very pleased with the effort the players put in."
