Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon: "It's down to us and what we do. The players have shown good signs but we're not there yet.
"It's tight and we can't get carried away every time we get a good result."
Exeter drew 0-0 away at mid-table Brentford on Monday, taking their unbeaten run to seven games, which has helped them edge clear of the drop zone.
Tisdale said: "It's heads down between now and the end of the season and we've just got to get the necessary points.
"Every one matters and we had to put a lot of effort against Brentford to get that one point."
With six games remaining for the Grecians to confirm their League One status, Tisdale laid out the plan he feels the players will need to reach safety.
"Every week, we have to be steely-minded but also have some freedom to play.
"We have to be pragmatic and really tough when it comes to defending set-pieces, then we have to have the courage to pass and play when we get the chance," he added.
