The Grecians had taken the lead through Daniel Nardiello, but Steven Gillespie equalised for the home side. Steve Tully was sent off nine minutes before the break for fouling Vincent and denying a goalscoring opportunity and Exeter were reduced to nine men with 20 minutes left when Scott Golbourne was dismissed for fouling Vincent in the area.
David Mooney converted the resulting penalty, Vincent pounced on Lloyd James' pass to make it 3-1 and barely a minute later, Gillespie converted from Andy Bond's pass for 4-1. Bond struck a fifth from close range with four minutes to go.
Tisdale said: "I think 11 versus 11, we were the better side. There was only one side that passed the ball and looked like they were going to create chances and that was us.
"At half-time we felt that even with 10 men we had done well; we'd passed the ball better and looked far more fluid. But the second half was a different story.
"The second red card with the penalty made it very difficult for us. That was a decisive moment I suppose, if it wasn't already hard enough."
