Exeter City crashed to the bottom of the league following a dreadful performance against fellow strugglers Boston.
Late goals in each half were enough to give the Pilgrims what could be a vital victory, only their second on their travels this season.
Boston started well and Neil Redfearn curled a free kick over the bar in the opening stages.
Simon Wetherstone's fine cross was well cleared by Graeme Power as Richard Logan prepared to pounce.
Kevin Miller's poor clearance went straight to Logan who scampered into the box but was denied by Santos Gaia's fine lunging tackle.
Justin Walker's long-range shot was Exeter's only serious attempt on goal in the first half and the effort was beaten away by Paul Bastock.
Boston took the lead on the stroke of half time. Miller was forced to head a long ball clear on the edge of his box. The clearance only found Redfearn who struck an unstoppable volley over the stranded goalkeeper from 35 yards.
After the break Walker's free kick found Goodman inside the box but the veteran striker headed the ball wide.
Boston might have made it two when Peter Duffield's cross found James Gould inside the box but he shot straight into the arms of Miller.
Weatherstone then curled a long-range shot just past the post as the visitors continued to look the better side.
Wetherstone struck wide with only the goalkeeper to beat and Duffield struck a post as the visitors finished strongly.
In stoppage time the victory was assured when substitute Stuart Douglas ran on to a long clearance and calmly struck the ball home.
Boston boss Neil Thompson said after the match: "It was a scrappy game but I thought we dominated the first half.
"We began to create opportunities as the game went on and I am delighted with the result."
