Exeter 1-2 Torquay- Match Report

Gulls keep survival hopes aliveTorquay live to fight another day after coming from behind to beat relegation rivals Exeter 2-1 at St James' Park.Anything but a victory would have seen the Gulls drop back down to the Conference and things did not look good for them after Scot Bennett put Exeter ahead. But quickfire goals from Courtney Cameron and substitute Ashley Yeoman at the start of the second half turned the game on its head and kept Torquay's survival hopes alive. In a nervy and scrappy first half there were few chances for either side but Exeter edged in front after 17 minutes.Christy Pyn's booming goal kick was not dealt with by the Torquay defence

Tom Nichols collected the loose ball and as Gulls goalkeeper Martin Rice came rushing forwards, Nichols squared a pass to Bennett who had the simple task of rolling the ball into an empty net.Elliot Benyon headed a great chance wide as Torquay responded well, but despite dominating possession, they did not test Pyn and failed to register a shot on target in the first half. That soon changed with two goals in four minutes shortly after half-time

The first came when Courtney Cameron curled a stunning free-kick over the wall and into the top corner of the net, and the second when Yeoman found himself through on goal before lashing his shot beneath Pyn.Torquay remain bottom of the table but the win sees them move to within five points of safety with two matches remaining

Meanwhile, Exeter stay two points above the drop zone
