A last-minute strike by Ben Townsend increased the pressure on Exeter boss Eamonn Dolan while also helping a battling Farnborough side to a first Conference victory of the season.
Townsend struck two minutes into injury time to help ease the tension at a troubled Cherrywood Road and Exeter's away following turned on the manager at the final whistle following their sluggish start to the new campaign.
Exeter looked to be coasting to victory early on after a dominant opening and a Gareth Sheldon goal direct from a corner after 17 minutes.
But the hosts dug in and netted in stoppage time of both halves, Townsend winner following Paul Harkness' rather fortunate leveller on the stroke of half-time.
Both sides went into this game with a point to prove after Exeter slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Canvey Island on Saturday and Farnborough looked to restore pride following their 7-0 hammering at Carlisle.
And it was the visitors who emerged first, testing Boro keeper Craig Holloway a couple of times before Sheldon bent in a corner from the left which squeezed in at the near post with Andy Taylor lurking dangerously.
Boro took time to recover from their early nerves and just missed the target through Lloyd Blackman, before Harkness pounced on Townsend's centre to against the bar- the ball trickling in over the line off Scott Hiley's thigh.
Boro stepped up the pace after the break thus frustrating the visiting contingent.
Lee Miles headed against the foot of the post from Sacha Opinel's cross, Blackman headed a good opportunity wide, while Harkness was thwarted by the feet of keeper Martin Rice.
In the end, however Boro got their reward when the Exeter defence could only half clear
